Pumpkin's Warming Up!
It's a hell of a time to start a blog right before meeting someone, falling in love with them, and getting into a relationship and riding the NRE high, but I promise I have a lot to write about coming up! It's not going anywhere else, it's staying here.
My girlfriend sprained their ankle really badly late last week so I've been spending a lot of time at their place helping them move around and take care of themself and their apartment, and poor Pumpkin has been missing me so so much. Here he is this morning after not getting to spend several nights with me and having our regular routine interrupted.
Despite still being a hardcore velcro cat, he's actually been warming up to people a lot more recently which REALLY warms my heart so much. My coworker visited Montréal recently and crashed on my couch for a night and Pumpkin was brave enough to jump up on the couch with us to get pets while we watched tv and even showed his belly!! It's not just them, too! My girlfriend's been coming over for a month now and while I don't have any pictures of the 3 of us I can post online just yet, Pumpkin also warmed up to them really quickly too! I never personally empathized with the thing that some people would describe in their dating profiles of like "If my dog doesn't like you, it's a red flag" or "if my cat likes you we're going to get along", but after seeing just how much Pumpkin's warmed up to them, I think I get it? I was surprised by just how much trust and love I felt after seeing Pumpkin really go out of his way to show them love when he normally avoids new people like the plague.
Maybe he's getting more brave in general! I would love this for him so much, he's come such a long way :')
